By all accounts, Half-Life: Alyx is stellar. Nearly everyone who has played it, fans or critics, have little but glowing praise for it, with many saying that it’s not just the best VR game on

In short, enable the console by adding "-console -vconsole" to the launch options and then once in game, push the tilde (~) key on your keyboard to open the console. Type in "vr_fidelity_level_auto 0" and then "vr_fidelity_level 3". Then put on your headset and enjoy butter smooth game play again.

It is one of my favorite games of all time too. As a long time Half-Life fan back to playing HL1 on PS2 (initially) and also immense love for VR as a medium; Valve stepped up. Had tears too for the ending of Alyx, but more excitement-for-the-future tears, versus the last Hal-Life game (Episode Two) which was all sadness. In paying special attention to what makes VR special and in keeping true to the heart of Half-Life, Valve has crafted not only the greatest title available for virtual reality, but one of their best games ever. Half-Life: Alyx will be bandied about in Game of the Year conversations, I promise you that, and it rightly deserves to be.
